FIELD NOTES (US) Inspired by the vanishing sub-genre of agricultural memo books, ornate pocket ledgers and the simple unassuming beauty of a well-crafted grocery list, the Draplin Design Company of Portland and Chicago's Coudal Partners joined forces in 2007 to produce FIELD NOTES. The line began as a series of 3.5" x 5.5" notebooks featuring rustic kraft-paper covers and 48 pages in either graph, ruled or plain paper. An additional assortment of office accoutrements such as steno pads, ballpoint pens, pencils and calenders have been added over time. Each quarter a series of limited-edition notebooks are released. These releases explore new colours, papers, printing processes and often involve special packaging and other fringe benefits. |
